அருணாசல அஷ்டகம்

உண்டொரு பொருளறி வொளியுள மேநீ
யுளதுனி லலதிலா வதிசய சத்தி
நின்றணு நிழனிரை நினைவறி வோடே
நிகழ்வினைச் சுழலிலந் நினைவொளி யாடி
கண்டன நிழற்சக விசித்திர முள்ளுங்
கண்முதற் பொறிவழி புறத்துமொர் சில்லா
னின்றிடு நிழல்பட நிகரருட் குன்றே
நின்றிட சென்றிட நினைவிட வின்றே.
பொருள்:
இதயமென்னும் ஒரே பொருளாகிய நீ மட்டுமே உண்மை யாகும். உன்னிடத்தில் உனக்கு அன்னியமல்லாத ஓர் அற்புத சக்தியினின்று உனது சித்பிரகாசத்தோடு கூடிய, அணுவைப் போன்ற அதிநுட்ப நிழல் கூட்ட நினைவுகள் தோன்றி, பிராரப்த வினையினால் இயக்கப்பட்டுத் திரைப்படக் காட்சியைப் போல, ஆத்ம பிரதிபிம்ப மனஒளியாகிய கண்ணாடியால் உள்ளிலும், கண்முதலான இந்திரியங்களின் வழியாக வெளியிலும் நாம ரூப உலக சித்திரங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. அருட்பிரகாச மலையே! உலகத் தோற்றங்கள் இருந்தாலும் மறைந்தாலும் உன்னைத் தவிர இவைகள் வேறல்லவே!
Meaning:
You are Yourself the One Being, ever aware as the self-luminous Heart! In You there is a mysterious, wonderful power (shakti) which is not apart from You. From it proceeds the phantom of the mind, emitting its latent subtle dark mists of memories, which illumined by Your light reflected on them, appear within as though whirling in the vortices, or whirlwinds of Prarabdha. Later developing into the psychic worlds and reflected like a mirror within, they are then projected externally as the material world and transformed into concrete objects which are magnified by the outgoing senses and move about like pictures in a cinema show. These pictures, whether they appear or disappear, they are not different from you, Oh Hill of Grace!
