Chidabhasa is a Sanskrit term from Advaita Vedanta philosophy meaning “reflected consciousness” (chit = consciousness, abhasa = reflection/semblance). It refers to the appearance of the universal Consciousness (Brahman) within the individual mind (buddhi), creating the individual self or jiva. It is the “I”-thought that operates as the doer and experiencer in the world, often mistaking the body for the Self.
